Modern Natural Law

Theory
Modern Natural Law
Jurist
Hugo Grotius
Description

Natural law derives from rational principles inherent in human nature and would be binding 'even if God did not exist' (etiamsi daremus). By grounding law in reason rather than divine will, Grotius secularised natural law and laid the foundation of modern international law.
